A soft fall surface is designed to absorb impact from falls and protect against injury in a playground environment. It consists of a dual layer structure - the wear layer which is the visual surface and the underneath layer is the shock absorbing layer which is made from a recycled rubber (see image below). Each piece of playground equipment will have its own free fall height measure and its own soft fall perimeter.
Playground manufacturers may stipulate the soft fall required. However, if not, we are able to calculate the necessary requirements and guarantee the surface's compliance. The rubber soft fall systems comply to Australian Standard ASNZ4422:1996 and are certified soft fall surfaces. Following installation we will issue a compliance certificate.
Unsure if your playground meets the legal requirements? Let us test it and make any necessary recommendations to ensure compliance.
