Polyurethane Binders

Here at Synthetic Grass & Rubber Surfaces Australia Pty, we like to make sure our clients are provided with as much information as possible when looking at installing Rubber Wetpour.

When installing Rubber Wetpour there are two different Polyurethane Binders used.

Here is a simple explanation of two types of Polyurethane Binder and how these are used in rubber wetpour installations .

Aliphatic Polyurethane Binder (MDI)

Premium grade, non- yellowing Polyurethane.
It offers exceptional chemical resistance
Good weathering properties and super adhesion.
Most commonly used for wet play and splash areas
Aliphatic Polyurethane binder does however cost more than the Aromatic Polyurethane binder

Aromatic Polyurethane Binder

Most commonly used Polyurethane Binder for the installation of Rubber Wetpour surfacing, because of its economic value and availability in the market.
Offers flexibility and longevity
This particular binder is prone to yellowing due to the UV light intensity in the Australia climate. The yellowing effect will cause some colours of EPDM Rubber Granules to change momentarily until the yellowing wears off.
